This is one of the basic rules of the blues step.

Step 2

Closed position

The blues is danced in a closed position: facing each other. The legs are positioned as follows: partner's left leg - partner's left leg - partner's right leg - partner's right leg. The partner's right hand hugs the partner and is located on the "bra line". The partner's left hand rests on the partner's hand, creating good contact. The partner's left hand is holding the partner's right hand.

Leading in the blues is carried out by the partner's transfer of weight from one leg to the other and steps in any direction. In order for the partner to be able to understand what movement the partner is "communicating" to her at the moment, the couple must be in contact. Balance

In order to comfortably dance the blues, you need to find a balance in a pair. To do this, try, while standing in a closed position, at the same time sit down, giving each other the same amount of weight. When doing this exercise, make sure that your hips are directly under your shoulders and your back does not sag.

Step 5

Practice

Play a blues tune and practice shifting your weight from one leg to the other together. Think about balance and points of contact. After the partner begins to manage the transfer of the partner's weight from one leg to the other, you can try to take steps in any direction.
