Drawing is one of the forms of human intelligence development. At the same time, the goal of any drawing lies in achieving the maximum effect of realism. A huge role in this belongs to the creation of the shadow.

Instructions

Step 1

When drawing a person, keep the proportions and do not forget to create the "correct" shadow. In drawing, there are five of its varieties: own (areas of the object that are not illuminated or dimly lit), partial shade (the place of transition from shadow to light), falling shadow (cast by an object on other surfaces), reflex (shades in the shadow area formed by reflected from nearby objects with rays), light (the most brightly lit surfaces).

Step 2

If you are just a beginner artist, not a master, draw the shadows of the subject first with a pencil (it is easier to eliminate imperfections this way).

Step 3

To make a shadow for a person, first draw the shape itself, since the shape and size of the shadow will depend directly on it. An important role in this will be played by the height, complexion and position of the "object" in the drawing: whether it will sit or stand. If a person will be sitting in your drawing, make the shadow not very elongated, rather round. If we take into account the above classification, the type of shadow refers to "own", and its shade should be darkened as much as possible.

Step 4

If you make a shadow for a standing person, then its shape should be somewhat elongated, elongated in the direction opposite to the light source. Everything is much more complicated if the drawing is done in a certain style. So, a shadow for a person in a black and white drawing is much easier to make than a shadow in a color picture, especially if you paint with paints.

Step 5

If you are using paints, try to use all kinds of shadows (not only your own, but others) to create a volumetric, truly realistic image. Feel free to experiment and you will succeed.
