Instructions

Step 1

Start your drawing with a picture of a cherry tree. Make a pencil sketch of the thin trunk, keep in mind that it is not very long and is about 70-100 cm before the first branch. Then it divides into two or three long, strong shoots, which, in turn, have several main branches. Their length is several times the length of the trunk, since the branches of the sakura are not pruned.

Step 2

Add details to the cherry tree trunk drawing. Draw knotty growths on it, make the main branches a little snaggy. Keep in mind that cherry blossoms are not rodent-bleached.

Step 3

Draw cherry blossoms along the entire length of the branches. Sakura flowers bloom before the first leaves appear, they completely cover the branches of the tree and fall off within a few days. In addition, reflect in the drawing the fact that the buds grow in the form of umbrellas of three to four flowers. Please note that unlike the usual cherry blossom, which has five petals, sakura buds can have much more of them.

Step 4

Complete the drawing with petals blown away by the wind. Also draw them on the ground under the tree.

Step 5

Start coloring. To do this, you can use watercolor, gouache, or oil paints. Start at the trunk of the tree. Its bark is dark brown, young shoots are darker than old branches. For more authenticity, add a little red or burgundy to the base color.

Step 6

Use white and red petal paint. Sakura inflorescences have a pale pink color, it becomes more intense towards the center. For a light egg hue, which should be painted over the stamens, combine the yellow and white paints. To make the cherry tree stand out even more from the general background, use a bright blue tint for the sky.
