Sometimes just a few accessories are enough for the interior to sparkle with new colors. A little zest in the choice of color or detail allows you to achieve a stunning effect at times. For example, cute decorative pillows, bolsters. If the interior already has such a ready-made pillow, then you can simply change the fabric on it or add tassels or laces to it. It will take a little time to make a new cushion pad.

It is necessary

  • - fabric on the cover;
  • - pillow stuffing (foam rubber, synthetic winterizer, fur residues);
  • - decorative elements (buttons, tassels, fringes);
  • - sewing machine.

Instructions

Step 1

Decide on the size of your future pillow. Think about where the pillow will lie, whether it should contrast in color with the sofa. Or maybe you want to make some short cushions of candy. Measure the length of the future roller, its radius and circumference.

Step 2

Calculate the amount of fabric you need. If you plan to make a roll with "tails", then add the required amount of cm for the tails to the length. The width of a piece of fabric should be equal to the circumference of the future product, plus 3-4 cm for the seams.

Step 3

Purchase the required amount of fabric and decor items. Keep in mind that the thicker and denser the fabric, the more difficult it will be to assemble it into “ponytails”. And fabrics that crumble strongly at the edges are difficult to process and can spoil the appearance of the pillow.

Step 4

Open the material. You will end up with one long rectangle (pillow with ponytails) or a rectangle and two round pieces at the ends. If the fabric is dense enough, then it should not be reinforced with cushioning fabrics.

Step 5

The pillow is candy. Fold the rectangle in half, pinch off with needles, and sweep along the long side. Sew on machine. Remove basting and needles. Sweep the short sides by folding the fabric in half so that there are no fraying edges. Create machine stitch. You can also make a decorative double stitch with a different shade of thread.

Step 6

Pillow with flat ends. Cut out one piece - a rectangle according to the dimensions of the roller and two circles equal to the diameter of the ends. Fold the part of the middle part with the right side inward and sew 5-7 cm from both sides to the place of the fastener (buttons or zipper). Iron the seam and sew in a zipper or buttons (buttons). Sew the side round parts to the middle one, folding them with the front sides inward. Cut the seams evenly. Turn the finished cover onto the front side.

Step 7

Make filler. Make a roller out of foam rubber, padding polyester or any remnants of fabrics. To do this, roll up the foam rubber and sew it along the long side to keep it in shape. Carefully put the resulting cylinder into the finished cover and stuff it tightly with the remnants of fur, shreds or pieces of padding polyester.

Step 8

Decorate the finished product with a decorative cord, carefully tying it at the ends of the pillow, or sew on ponytails. Also, pillows can be decorated with embroidery, beads or beads. If the roller is planned for the nursery, you can decorate it with an applique to make a funny cat or dachshund dog.
