The review as one of the genres of art criticism and journalism should reflect not only the point of view of its author on the work. Your own point of view can be called a review. A movie review is much easier to write than a review. In addition to personal opinion, the review should contain a summary of the film, an assessment of the work of all filmmakers (from the director and actors to the composer and costume designer), as well as some recommendations for viewing. What steps should you take to write an objective, interesting, and witty review?

Step 1
Before writing a review, it is advisable to collect information about the film. You can do this before or after viewing. It is imperative to know the name of the film, its director, the main actors, the genre of the movie, its plot, the place and time of the events in the film.
Step 2
While watching a movie, it is advisable to arm yourself with a notebook and a pen or pencil to make the necessary notes. These can be memorable dialogues, the appearance of a significant hero, incomprehensible situations. These notes will then help refresh some of the initially seemed insignificant moments. You can also capture the bloopers that filmmakers sometimes allow. You need to be careful and notice the smallest details: makeup, sound amplification, computer graphics, etc.
Step 3
During or after viewing, it is advisable to evaluate the work of all filmmakers. Start with the director: what he wanted to convey and how much he succeeded, what techniques he used, how much the title matches the plot, etc. Then evaluate the scriptwriter: are the dialogues realistic, is the plot original, etc., as well as the actors: did they cope with the implementation of the director's idea, did they get used to the role, etc. Do not forget about the operator, editor, illuminator: how clear and high-quality the picture is on the screen (however, it is better to talk about this only to people who understand these issues), as well as a costume designer, decorator, composer and sound engineer.

Then you can sketch the review, a kind of draft. This can be done both by hand and on a computer. You need to try to be objective, and also warn readers if the review contains spoilers.

When editing and bringing a review into a readable form, at first it is better to give general information about the film, but not in a reference form, but in an exciting, interesting and at the same time informative. You can briefly describe the plot without revealing the main cards, make a kind of announcement. This section should not be more than one paragraph.
Step 6
After describing the film, you need to proceed directly to the review, i.e. overall viewing experience, thoughts after viewing, comments and ratings. Moreover, if the reviewer did not like the plot, video sequence or the game of some actor, it is important not only to demonstrate his opinion, but also to provide facts supporting the position. Objectivity is the main quality that should be in a review. When it is clear in advance that the film will not like it, it is better not to watch it. It is also better to exclude from the list of reviewed films those that are directed by unloved directors and in which unloved actors are played.
Step 7
You can end the review with a conclusion or a recommendation for viewing. The conclusion should be succinct, short and clear. An example of such a conclusion is the phrase: "It is a pity that the grandiose cast and experienced director could not fully show all the drama of this story."
Step 8
Before you show your review to the world, you definitely need to check it for grammatical, punctuation and logical errors. It will be a shame if a competent and objective review is remembered only by the number of errors in it.
