An angel costume is unthinkable without the indispensable attribute of an angelic appearance - two snow-white wings behind the back. These wings are on sale in specialized stores, but you can make them yourself, choosing the size and shape of the wings that are optimal for your suit. There are several ways to make angel wings, and they themselves can have a different look - fluffy or transparent, flat or voluminous. Choose the method you want based on what kind of creative materials you have.

It is necessary

  • For cardboard-based fenders:
  • - cardboard;
  • - white paper or cloth;
  • - PVA glue and a brush;
  • - elastic band (about 1 m);
  • - synthetic winterizer;
  • - for feathers: feathers / white napkins / white fur / feather boa / white silk and fine wire / white satin.
  • Framed wings:
  • - wire for the frame;
  • - white nylon tights or transparent tulle;
  • - a needle and thread;
  • - rubber.
  • - scissors.

Instructions

Step 1

Wings on a cardboard base. Determine the optimal size and shape of the angel's wings using figure measurements. You can draw a wing pattern right on the figure by attaching a sheet of paper to it. Consider how they will look when looking at a person from the front.

Step 2

Cut out two wings according to the resulting pattern with one piece of thick cardboard. Cover the cardboard with white paper or cloth.

Step 3

On the inside of the wings, glue or firmly sew on two elastic bands (like the shoulder straps of a backpack), back-width apart, so that the wings can be easily put on. Mask the attachment points of the straps with white paper.

Step 4

Then glue one or two layers of padding polyester. Cut out the part with a large allowance on all sides, glue it to the cardboard base, and then cut the wings along the contour, cutting off the excess padding polyester - so the edges of the wings will turn out to be even.

Step 5

Glue large feathers on top of the padding polyester, and if they are not there, then white napkins torn into small pieces. There is an option to glue the wings with white fluffy fur with long pile. A white feather boa is also perfect for pasting angel wings.

Step 6

There is an economical and very effective way of making feathers for pasting wings. Take white silk (natural or synthetic) and cut it into strips to fit the feathers you need. Fluff the fabric around the edges of the stripes for a fluffy fringe. Glue a thin wire onto the silk. You need to make two or three layers of these stripes for each pen.

Step 7

Feathers can also be made from shiny satin by cutting it into small rectangles with rounded corners and burning the edges with a lighter so that the fabric does not fall off. The neatly sewn rows of these shiny feathers look amazing.

Step 8

Sheer fenders with wire frame. Such wings are made from thick wire and white transparent fabric such as tulle or from white nylon tights.

Step 9

Form two angel wings from the wire. Twist the wire at the junction of the two wings to form a figure eight. Secure the ends of the wire with duct tape.

Step 10

Pull large white nylon tights over the wings - one “pantyhose” for each wing. If you are using tulle, wrap the fabric around the frame, sew the wings along the contour, grabbing the wire in the seam, and then trim off the excess fabric. Use a wide elastic band or satin ribbon to fasten the wings as described in step 3.
