A relative takes them for maintenance. However, the woman, hardened during the war, is too rude to children. She reproaches the boy with the fact that he must earn himself. Brother and sister move to an abandoned bomb shelter
A little time passes, and the girl falls ill. Even a doctor cannot help her. Then the information about the imminent surrender of Japan comes from the front. Seita falls into despair. He tries to save Setsuko, which is impossible. These are the most dramatic shots. In the final scene of the film, the spirits of the sister and brother tell their story to the fireflies and silently look at their once hometown.

Tokyo Eight
Emotional anime inspired by a terrible earthquake. The creator of the series, Tachibana Masaki, managed as accurately as possible to betray the feelings experienced by people who have become hostages of a natural cataclysm. The main character of the film, on whose behalf the narration is conducted, Mirai Onozawa, a high school student.
Most of her time is spent at home. The girl writes events in an electronic diary. She is not spoiled by the attention of her parents: both father and mother work too much so that the children (Mirai has a younger brother) do not need anything. The girl understands perfectly well what drives them, but she is still offended by the adults.
With the arrival of summer holidays, an exhibition of robotics begins in the city. My brother really wants to visit her. The responsibility rests with Mirai. The children got to the planned event and would have had a good time, but everything was confused by the earthquake. The Eight Bell shock destroyed many buildings. Children will have to get out and find their own home.
The heroic odyssey once again demonstrates to the viewer the confrontation between the blind element and the human spirit. In the Land of the Rising Sun, such cataclysms are common.
The inhabitants of Japan often have to be victims of earthquakes. The director managed not only to portray a natural disaster. He was able to show the people who found themselves in his very heart, their tragedy. Despite everything, they all did not lose hope of salvation.
The heights

Clannad
In Japanese, clannad means family. A touching and sweet story spanning two seasons. Must see both. The main character, high school student Tomoya Okazaki. The boy lost his mother a long time ago, his relationship with his father is very difficult.
A guy comes to school to wander the corridors. He is reputed to be sloven and impudent. Tomoya communicates only with his friend Sunohara. The guy does not understand why he lives and why he needs to study.
One day, near the school, he met a shy soulful girl Nagisa Furukawa. From that moment on, the hero's life changed. He began to communicate with peers.
The anime tells about growing up, the later life of the guys. At first glance, everything is pretty banal, nothing particularly exciting. However, closer to the middle, the idea of the filmmakers begins to unfold. In the second season, the intensity of passions reaches its peak.
The audience is spared in the beginning. Even the first season ends with a good ending. But then emotions begin. Each character is fully revealed. They all do not resemble impartial masks. Each has its own history and destiny. This is already a rarity even for atmospheric anime. The ending of the series is striking. It is thanks to her that "Clannad" stands out in the sea of romantic anime. The ending is as joyous as it is tragic. The hope for a miracle remains, but miracles are such that one can suffer for them.
