It is easy and pleasant to ride a bike as long as everything is in order with it. One of the most common problems that any cyclist can experience is a punctured wheel. This problem cannot be ignored and must be addressed immediately. There are only two options: buy a new camera to replace the punctured one, or seal the puncture site.

It is necessary

  • Rubber glue;
  • Degreasing liquid (gasoline, acetone, etc.);
  • Small skin;
  • Patch;
  • Pump.

Instructions

Step 1

First you need to find the puncture site. Usually the hole is always very small, and the rubber of the deflated chamber shrinks and tightens it. Therefore, slightly pump up the chamber with a pump and listen. By a thin whistle, you can spot where the air is coming from. If it doesn't work, then lower the pumped-up camera into the water - the bubbles will tell you exactly where the puncture is. Be sure to wipe off water from the camera, as the sealing surface must be clean and dry.

Step 2

Next, you need a patch. You can use a ready-made kit from the store or cut it yourself from an old camera. The patch must necessarily be round or oval in shape, because everything glued begins to come off from the corners, so there should not be any. Do not make the patch too large, it is enough that it is 1-1.5 cm larger than the hole to be sealed.

Step 3

Then the bonding site must be prepared. First, degrease the patch itself and the area of the camera where you glue it. This is necessary in order for the glue to properly bond the surfaces. Do not neglect this procedure - sometimes it is enough just to touch the rubber with your finger, leaving a trace of sebum imperceptible to the eye so that the glue does not stick to this surface. This procedure can be performed with gasoline or almost any solvent, most often acetone is used. After degreasing, the surface must be slightly roughened for better adhesion of the adhesive to the rubber. So you need a fine sandpaper: gently rub the desired areas with it until they become matte, then blow off the dust.

Step 4

When everything is ready, you can start gluing. Apply a thin layer of glue to both the patch and the camera. Then place the patch over the desired area and squeeze firmly with your fingers (or press something flat and hard against the table). Hold for a few seconds, then release. Then you just have to wait for the glue to dry completely.
