How to make artificial marble

It is necessary

Polyurethane matrix for the product, cement (1 part), river sand (2 parts), water (0, 2 parts), dye (1% by weight of cement), plasticizer (1% by weight of cement), filler (pebbles, colored), mixer, plastic wrap

Instructions

Step 1

Prepare a special polyurethane mold for the future product. Prepare a mixture to create a marble slab. Mix cement and river sand. Combine them with filler. Interspersed pebbles will give the artificial stone a special flavor. Add dyes. Thanks to them, the mixture will acquire a "marble" appearance: streaks, spots, dots of other colors and shades will appear on it. The more unevenly the dye is distributed, the more natural the finished product looks.

Step 2

Gently pour 80% water into the mixture. Then add the plasticizer and mix gently. After 30 seconds, when the mixture "floats" and becomes plastic, add the remaining 20% water. Stir the mixture until smooth with a special mixer. Remember that the better you mix the raw materials, the higher the quality of the marble afterwards.

Step 3

Pour the resulting solution into the matrix. Remove excess material from the surface of the mold and cover the top with plastic wrap. Let it harden and dry. After 10-12 hours (during this time the raw material turns into stone) remove the mold and take out the finished marble slab.

Step 4

The artificial marble obtained in this way can be used both for decorating a fireplace and for cladding a bathroom. Moreover, it is much more durable than ordinary marble. And also this kind of marble does not have a porous structure, therefore it does not absorb spilled liquids, be it tea, coffee or carbonated water. Thanks to this miracle stone, today anyone can say "yes" to fantasies about a fireplace faced with granite.
