Anyone who decides to paint a classic still life or a landscape with a marble building is faced with the problem of how to convey the texture of this wonderful material. The ability to draw marble can also be useful to those who would like to paint a plate or any other suitable object in an antique style. True, the technologies in these cases will be different.

- - sponge.
Instructions
Step 1
Use a stencil to paint a marble wall or sculpture in a landscape or still life. Make it out of a piece of heavy paper or cardboard. Draw the outlines of a wall or sculpture on it. Cut it out. Place the stencil on the drawing, aligning the hole with the lines of the object. The rest of the sheet should be covered.
Step 2
Draw some watercolors or basic gouache on a sponge and paint over the image. Then put a darker shade of the same color on your toothbrush and spray it over the surface, brushing against the edge of the wooden plate. For watercolors, you can use a spray bottle instead of a toothbrush. Blur the splatter with a soft brush. If the marble has inclusions of other colors, repeat the procedure. Remove the stencil and finish the drawing.
Step 3
If you are into applique work, make marbled paper. Choose a cuvette that fits a sheet of paper. It can also be another vessel of a suitable shape. Pour in water and vegetable oil. It is better to take the oil purified and deodorized. It needs just enough so that it covers the surface of the water with a thin film.
Step 4
Pour the matching colors into the cuvette. There may be two or three of them. Let them spread over the surface. They form intricate curls, similar to the texture of marble. Place a piece of paper gently in the cuvette so that it touches the paint layer. Hold the sheet for 10-15 seconds. It is more convenient to dry such paper in an upright position, hanging it on a rope or cornice and securing it with a clothespin. Marbled paper can be used as a background for applique work. But you can make elements of the composition out of it.
Step 5
To imitate marble for finishing work or making an object of decorative and applied art, use paints that fit well on the material. If necessary, clean and degrease the surface. Apply primer. On paper wallpaper, this can be, for example, water-based paint. Let the soil dry. Better to apply it in two layers. Then apply light paint, and apply glaze on it with a wide brush - lines of different shapes. You can take several shades of the same color, this will make the texture even more similar to real marble. Then rub the paint over the surface with a rubber sponge.
