Soap making is an interesting hobby. Handcrafted from soap base, essential and cosmetic oils, and other natural ingredients, handmade soap is safe for health and extremely useful. But for all its usefulness, homemade soap can also be extremely beautiful, bright and pleasing to the eye. The easiest way to make it attractive is by coloring it.
Instructions
Step 1
Cosmetic dyes
Cosmetic liquid, water-soluble dyes are best for dyeing soaps. It is necessary to be careful in the dosage of dyes and not to overdo it. Enough 1-2 drops per 100 grams of soap base. The dyes mix well with each other, forming new colors. There is only one drawback: in multicolor soaps, colors can migrate from layer to layer, making the result unpredictable.
Step 2
Oil and dry food colors
Oil-based synthetic food colors give clean and rich shades to soaps. Disadvantage: Colors migrate over time. There are also dry food colors. Before adding to soap, they must be diluted in vegetable oil.
Step 3
Cosmetic pigments
In addition to soap making, they are used in the preparation of other handmade cosmetics. Cosmetic pigments give a rich color, do not migrate in the finished product (this makes them indispensable in the manufacture of multi-layer colored soaps). Disadvantage: Cosmetic pigments cloud the transparent soap base.
Step 4
Mother of pearl
Mother of pearl will help to add charm and glamor to a transparent soap. Before adding to soap, mother-of-pearl is diluted in alcohol or glycerin, or added undiluted to the base. It is best to use mother-of-pearl for a transparent soap base, as they are not as noticeable in matte.
Step 5
Natural dyes
Soap makers advise against using natural dyes to make homemade soaps, as the result can be unpredictable. However, some fans of eco-style still prefer to dye the soap with vegetable juices, spices and finely ground herbs.
So, with the help of turmeric, carrots or sea buckthorn oil, the soap becomes orange. Cayenne pepper, paprika will give a delicate peach shade (the main thing is not to get excited with the amount). Beet juice, pink clay, red Moroccan clay or cochineal powder will be colored into a red bar of soap.
Chamomile essential oil comes in handy to get a blue hue, and curry powder or saffron is needed to make yellow soap. To add "greenery" use natural herbs - dried parsley, dill and spinach juice.
Brown color is given by: chocolate, hibiscus, cinnamon, cocoa powder, burnt sugar and ground coffee. Milk will give beige color. However, “milk” soap should be used as soon as possible, as it will very soon acquire an unpleasant odor.
