The modern, generally accepted calendar is based mainly on the observation of the sun. It is very different from the lunar cycle. If you need to know what day it is on the lunar calendar, you need to make some effort to find information.

Step 1
Take data from a tear-off calendar. Almost each of them contains information about the lunar day of the cycle and the phase of the celestial body during this period.
Step 2
Use special computer programs to calculate the lunar day. Since differences from daylight hours also arise at the level of day reckoning, the program will need to indicate not only the date, but also the time, as well as geographical coordinates. This is especially important if you are compiling a horoscope based on the lunar time of birth. The system will give you data not only about the lunar day, but also about the closest to the date of the new moon and full moon, as well as the rising and setting of the moon in a specific period.
Step 3
Find out the lunar day yourself. The lunar cycle begins with a new moon, which you can fix on your own, and lasts about 29 days. Thus, the fifth day after the new moon will be the fifth day of the lunar cycle. But such a calculation does not take into account that one day according to the Gregorian calendar can fall on two lunar days. You can fix this by counting the new day from moonrise.
Step 4
Get information about the lunar day on different calendars. The Islamic lunar year consists of 354 days, so its dates are constantly shifting relative to the solar calendar. The best way to do this is to use comparative calendar tables. For example, one of them shows that the first day of the first month of Muharram in 2012 will come on November 15 according to the solar calendar. Please note that the start dates of the year are different in lunar calendars. For example, in Chinese, 2012 starts on January 23rd in the Gregorian calendar.
Step 5
Use the information about the lunar day to compile a horoscope. Its accuracy will be higher if, in addition to the date, you also indicated the time and place of observation of the moon or any event.
