Knitted fruits can be a fun and educational toy for children or just a decorative element. You can make a whole basket of different fruits with a crochet hook and yarn. One of these fruits can be a slice of watermelon.
It is necessary
- - Yarn "Iris" red, pink (or white), green
- - Black threads
- - Sintepon
- - Hook
Instructions
Step 1
Take red threads, tie a chain of 4 chain stitches and close it into a ring. Then knit 6 single crochets into the ring, 12 columns in the next row, 18 in the third. Then knit a circle to the desired size, evenly adding 6 single crochets in each row. Knit the last two rows in the same pattern, but with pink (or white) threads.
Step 2
Tie a chain and air loops equal in length to half the circumference of the red blank of watermelon. Knit 2 half-stitches, then knit single crochet stitches throughout the chain, knit the last two stitches with connecting stitches. Repeat several rows in the same way. The result should be a tapered strip.
Step 3
Fold the red yarn circle in half and sew a green strip around the edge. To keep the knitted slice in shape, sew the details not with a blind stitch, but with the usual one ("back to the needle").
Step 4
At the end, leave a small distance unstitched and fill the wedge with padding polyester. You should not use cotton wool or foam rubber for stuffing, as then the product will turn out to be clumsy. Do not fill too tightly, otherwise the slice will turn out to be thick and unlike a straight cut piece of watermelon. Sew the hole all the way through.
Step 5
Embroider "seeds" with black threads on both sides of the wedge. Use for this floss, the same "Iris" or any similar yarn.
Step 6
To make the top edge of the wedge sharper and smoother, sew it with a needle back seam with red thread.
