On August 9, 2012, the premiere of the film "Total Recall" took place in Russia. This picture is a remake of the Oscar-winning sci-fi action movie of the same name, filmed in 1990. The director of the tape, Len Wiseman, made many changes to the plot, making an original, but no less interesting film.
The action of the picture takes place in the near future - the end of the XXI century. The Earth survived a chemical war that ended in a global catastrophe for it. There are only two islands left on the planet suitable for human life. This is the territory of the former Europe, now the United British Federation (UBF) and its colony - Australia. For communication between the OBF and the Colony, a special elevator has been developed, the path of which runs through the earth's core. The planet suffers from overpopulation: the standard of living of most people is low. In addition, society is forced to fight terrorists who oppose the domination of the OBF.
The main character, as in the 1990 film, Douglas Quaid is a simple worker living in a poor, densely populated area. Douglas is engaged in monotonous work and is quite happy with his life, but he wants new experiences. He goes to Rekall, a corporation that implants other people's memories into its clients. People willingly agree to surgery in order to experience new sensations. Doug selects the secret agent's memories. During the procedure, special forces soldiers rush into the office and try to grab Quaid. However, Douglas unexpectedly demonstrates martial arts skills and kills opponents. The main character returns home, but his own wife tries to kill him there. It is revealed that she is an OBF spy and has been following Doug for months.
Melina, a woman who came to him in nightmares, helps Douglas escape from the pursuit. With her help, Quaid gradually finds out the true state of affairs. In fact, he was not always a factory worker, in the past he is a defector spy recruited by the Resistance. The memory of these events was erased, and the procedure in Rekall began to return them. All this could have prevented the OBF from taking over the Colony. Douglas goes to the leader of the rebels in the hope of recovering the erased information, among which the code for deactivation of the OBF robots is stored. However, when Doug uses it, he reveals his location and the Resistance is attacked by Special Forces. However, Quaid manages to get away from his pursuers and blow up the elevator - the only means of communication between the OBF and the Colony. The war is averted.
