The edge of a homemade purse, wallet, glasses case, or cell phone case can be trimmed with beads. This finish looks very impressive and does not require any special skills.

Instructions
Step 1
Beading can be done on leather or fabric with a tight edge. Plain chintz, linen, wool, artificial fabrics, when trimmed along the edge, will crumble into separate threads, which will make the work impossible. Plain weave fabrics can be beaded if the fabric is tucked up evenly. The edge should be perfectly flat and well ironed, otherwise the beads will fall unevenly.
Step 2
Glue a thin strip of felt to the wrong side of the garment to seal the edge with special fabric or leather glue. If you want to add stiffness to the garment, glue a strip of heavy paper to the edge and felt on top. Such a base is usually used when beading jewelry with large semi-precious stones.
Step 3
Take the product with the right side facing you. You need to sew the edge in the direction from left to right. It is more convenient for left-handers to move from right to left. Secure the thread in the felt with a few small stitches. Bring the needle through the wrong side, make a loop and again pass the needle through the same place, but from the front side to the wrong side.
Step 4
Pull the thread without pulling it all the way in. Pass the needle through the loop from right to left and tighten the stitch. Hook up one bead with the end of the needle. Pierce the base from the front side to the wrong side, 2-3 mm from the first puncture. Pull the thread, leaving a small loop. Pass the needle through the loop and tighten the bead to the left of the thread guide.
Step 5
Continue to sheathe the product. This method is similar to overcasting by hand, but beads must be added one at a time in each stitch. The distance between the punctures of the base should be slightly larger than the diameter of the beads.
Step 6
Another way to trim the edge requires the use of quality beads. All beads must be exactly the same size. Secure the thread and sew the first stitch in the same way as described in the previous method. Pick up the beads with a needle, pierce the base from the front to the wrong side. Pull the thread, but do not pull the stitch too tight.
Step 7
Carefully pass the needle through the sewn bead from right to left. Pull out the thread. Insert the needle from the front side of the product to the wrong side at a distance from the previous puncture approximately equal to the diameter of the beads. Thread the bead through the needle again and sew in the same way. As a result of this sewing method, you should end up with a neat edge with the beads laid on their side.
