Dog shoes are not at all a luxury item and a whim of crazy owners. In the life of an animal, many situations can arise when boots are simply necessary to protect the paws. The animal can get hurt, get sick, and the harsh winter is not at all favorable for walking barefoot. You don't have to buy shoes from a store where prices are extremely high, you can make your own boots for your pet.
It is necessary
- - centimeter;
- - threads;
- - material for the bootleg;
- - felt;
- - pins;
- - needles;
- - material for the sole;
- - rubber bands.
Instructions
Step 1
Determine the size of the dog's paw. This can be done by tracing the limb with a pencil on a piece of paper. Then measure the resulting template with a centimeter. It is imperative to determine the size of both pairs of paws, since the front paws are slightly larger than the hind ones. Also measure the height from the foot to the wrist and the width of the bootleg.
Step 2
Build patterns. For the foot, the template with which you measured the foot is suitable, just add another 1 cm for the allowance. The pattern for the bootleg is done as follows: draw a rectangle equal to the height of the leg length to the wrist joint, and in width equal to the size of the bootleg. Be sure to add 1 cm for the allowance (2 cm for large dogs). Mark the location of the joints. If you will fix the shoes with an elastic band, then add the length of the drawstring to the pattern (it is equal to the width of the elastic + 1 cm).
Step 3
Cut out patterns and baste to fabric with light stitches or pins. Now, according to the pattern, cut out the blanks for sewing boots.
Step 4
Sew the sole. Take a durable rubberized material as the main layer, sew felt to it, and make the inner part of the sole from a soft knitted material so that the paws are comfortable. To prevent the soles from getting wet in rainy weather, cover the edges with glue and attach cellophane. You can decorate the sole with large stitches of multi-colored threads.
Step 5
Form the bootleg. If you plan to use boots during the cooler season, then use 2 layers of fabric. Sew in a soft fabric inside and cover it with a moisture-proof fabric. Sew drawstrings to the top of the bootleg and insert elastic bands to secure. To protect your toes and heels from bruising, sew over the areas of the boots with hard material.
