Step 1
Determine the dimensions of the mast. From the very beginning, you need to determine the length and diameter (can vary along the entire length of the mast). Very often there are such options in which the diameter of the mast at the base is 3 ", and at the other end - 2".

Select material. You need to approach this point with all responsibility, because the service life of the mast itself depends on the choice of material. It is better to stop on a light tree, because weight plays a significant role. The tree should be thicker, wider and longer than the future mast.

Trimming and stripping. The ultimate goal is to get a round mast. Gradually cutting, and then, cleaning it with grinding wheels or an ordinary jointer, they achieve a suitable shape.

Coating with protective materials. Varnishes, paints, etc. are ideal.
