It is necessary

  • For the mass of papier-mâché:
  • - paper backing for eggs or toilet paper;
  • - hot water;
  • - PVA-M glue;
  • - sandpaper.
  • For toys:
  • - paper clips;
  • - acrylic paints and whitewash;
  • - glitters;
  • - waxed thread or satin ribbon.

Instructions

Step 1

How to make mass

To make a mass of papier-mâché yourself, soak the egg trays for an hour in hot water or boil them for half an hour. When the water cools down, squeeze out the resulting gruel very carefully and gradually add PVA glue to it, kneading in parallel. As a result, you should get a plastic mass that holds its shape well and does not stick to your hands.

Step 2

You can do it easier - soak a roll of toilet paper in a little water, also squeeze and add glue. From the previous mass, this one will differ in greater homogeneity. From it you can make small toys on a frame with a fine elaboration of features.

Step 3

The most creative and exciting stage is the modeling itself. Since you are going to make Christmas tree toys, be sure to think about how they will cling to the tree. The easiest way is to use a regular paper clip, straightening it out so that you get two ears on opposite ends. The small eye must be drowned in the toy, and the large one will become a loop for tying the thread.

Step 4

When the toys are formed, let them dry. It is best to do this on a hot battery - this will take no more than a day. After drying, the products should become very light.

Step 5

The next stage is grinding the products with sandpaper. You need to start with a coarse grain, gradually replacing with thinner ones.

Step 6

Do not iron too much - some roughness gives the toys a special charm. There are two toys in the photo - the first is prepared for drawing, the second is left as it is.

Step 7

Before decorating, papier-mâché products need to be primed. The same PVA-M glue, which was used to create the mass, acts as a primer. Let dry.

Step 8

An important step is to paint the toys with white paint so that the drawing on top is especially bright.

Step 9

When the toy is polished, primed and coated with whitewash, it remains to decorate it as you wish.
