Knitting with teeth is used for hemming and hemming products, mainly for women or children. The teeth can be used to create a finishing strip around the edge of the garment in different colors, or use this pattern for tying lace holes.

Instructions

Step 1

When knitting a product with a cotton thread from below, dial the number of loops required for work. Knit 3-5 rows of hosiery (front side - knit loops, wrong side - purl loops).

Step 2

Next, go to thinner knitting needles and with the main thread knit another 2.5-3 cm with a stocking stitch. To obtain a serrated edge along the fold line on the front side of the work, knit, alternating 2 loops together with the front and 1 yarn to the end of the row. In the next row, knit all the loops and yarns with purl loops.

Step 3

Tie the required binder height. Cut off the cotton thread, opening the loops of the main thread. Slip them over the extra knitting needle. Fold the fabric along the fold line (wrong side in).

Step 4

Knit 2 stitches together to the end of the row with the front one: take one loop from the main knitting needle, the second from the additional one. Make a serrated hem and then knit the fabric according to the pattern. This version of the serrated edge is used so as not to sew on the fold of the product. The resulting scalloped pattern when knitting is called the "picot" edge.

Step 5

If the pattern of the product does not allow to connect the canvas, then sew the open loops of the first row to the tubercles of the purl loops obtained on the seamy side.

Step 6

If you want to use a scalloped edge when knitting from top to bottom, knit the pico edge for the fold and hem in the same way: on the right side of the work, knit, alternating 2 stitches together with the front and 1 yarn to the end of the row. In the next row, knit all the loops and yarns with purl loops. Then fold and sew on the wrong side by hand along the open loops of the main fabric.
