In the process of knitting, we are often faced with the fact that we need to subtract or add loops. This is necessary, for example, to form the armhole or neck of the product, to increase the width of the product, or simply to create a specific pattern.
Instructions
Step 1
If you need to add loops imperceptibly, for example, after a knitted elastic, increase the total number of loops, divide the total number of loops on the knitting needle by the number that you need to add. So you will know after how many loops you need to make an increase so that the increase is uniform.
Step 2
If you need to arrange an armhole or cutout, follow the instructions: it always says how many loops are added and decreased in each row and whether it needs to be done in the purl rows.
Step 3
To make the increase inconspicuous, you need to knit a new, added pattern, that is, knit the front one on the fabric from the front loops, and the purl from the purl. To do this, knit a regular loop, inserting the right knitting needle not into the first loop on the left knitting needle, but into the loop under this loop. The loop on the left knitting needle is knitted next, so two loops are obtained from one.
Step 4
Another way to add loops is to knit a new loop by inserting the right knitting needle under the broach - this is the thread between the first (upper) loop on the left knitting needle and the upper loop on the right.
Step 5
Sometimes loops are added with a yarn. In this case, an openwork pattern remains on the canvas, therefore this method is used to form a certain pattern and is not suitable for the inconspicuous addition of loops. Yarn over and knit as usual. in the next row, knit the loop formed by the crochet according to the pattern - front or purl.
Step 6
To add stitches along the right edge of the garment, insert the right knitting needle into the hem, as in knitting, and away from you. Pull a working thread through it, and leave the resulting loop on the left knitting needle. Using the left knitting needle, grab the loop of the right knitting needle away from you and transfer to the left knitting needle.
Step 7
To add loops along the left edge, place the sewing thread around your thumb towards you. Using your right knitting needle, grab the bobbin thread from your thumb. Grab the upper thread with your right knitting needle and pull out the loop. Remove your thumb from the loop and pull the thread on the needle. This should create a new loop.
