Useful beautiful things are made from the remains of the fabric. One of them is a rug. It can be placed near the bed, in the bathtub. On the wall, the original product also looks great. Decorate the patches in the form of braids, sew them to the base, or make a small volume rug out of the patches.
"Braids" rug
For this needlework, you will need a fairly dense base. A piece of old curtain or other old fabric will do. The rags remaining from the needlework must be cut or torn into strips 2-3 cm wide. It is good if the remains of the fabric are long. Cut the canvas with scissors on top, stepping back from the edge 2-3 cm, tear off the strip. Continue tearing them up in the same way. If you still have different colored patches, fold the matching color to one side. You should have 3 slips of fabric strips.
Take one from each pile and place them on the ironing board. Pin the ends of the three strips together using a pin. Weave a braid from these materials at hand. When strips of some fabric run out, weave in another. To do this, lay the braid horizontally, make a small vertical incision, stepping back from the edge of 3 cm. Do the same on the seamy side of the new strip, turn it over onto your face. Insert this slit into the cut of the finished braid ribbon, continue weaving.
Iron the braid so that it becomes flat, gently roll it into a ball. Ten meters of braid is enough for sewing a rug measuring 50x50 cm. You can make a base 60x40 cm or cut it out in the shape of a circle or another shape. Attach the beginning of the braid ball to the larger edge. Unwind it a little so that part of the braid lies on the side of the rectangular base, sew on a typewriter. When you get to the other end, turn the braid over and sew the second one against the first with a zigzag stitch. Decorate the entire surface of the main fabric in the same way. Trim the edge with a bias tape or tie it with threads.
Volume rug
Cut strips of 2, 5x10 cm from the remnants of the fabric. Make them along the share, that is, they should stretch more in width, and not in length. Take carpet netting, available from textile stores, or fiberglass netting, available from your hardware store. Cut off this dense mesh base to make it the size you want.
Step 1 cm away from it and start attaching the flaps. Pass the end of the large crochet hook through the mesh opening and grab the middle of the folded fabric. Place the end of the hook into the loop of the flap formed, grab both ends of the fabric strip with it, pull them through this loop, tighten. As a result, the ribbon is tightly attached to the edge of the mesh square, tied into a knot on it. Tie all other flaps in the same way. Place them tightly together. When the entire surface is covered, place strips of adhesive backing material on the edges of the rug, run over the material from the inside with an iron, wrap it on the front side and also attach with a hot iron. The volumetric rug from the remains of the fabric is ready.
