Step 1
Smoking a pipe does not mean drawing in smoke from the smoldering tobacco inside it. Smoking as such is only a small part of the pleasure that a pipe brings to its owner. So, you need to be able to fill it correctly. It is believed that there are two ways to stuff tobacco: dense and light. For an easy method, you first need to throw a pinch of tobacco into the tube and shake the device gently, then throw a larger pinch and press down with your finger. Next, you need to add tobacco pinches, each time pressing it more and more tightly to the bottom.
Step 2
Tight packing involves the use of coarse tobacco, which is usually supplied in volumetric bags and costs very little. The tobacco is poured into the tube immediately and crushed thoroughly.
Step 3
Next, you need to smoke the pipe so that carbon deposits form inside it. To do this, you need to knead the poured tobacco so that it becomes a soft and homogeneous mass. Quality tobacco will produce an oily film. It is not easy to set it on fire, nevertheless it is precisely this kind of tobacco that will allow the pipe to “work” well and for a long time, saving the smoker from unnecessary bitterness and excess smoke.
Step 4
Ignite the tobacco by directing the flame of a match or lighter (gas is most convenient) to the center of the funnel. To make the flame evenly engulf the tobacco, move the match in a circle. Tumble tobacco that has taken over and draw in the first smoke.
Step 5
Do not hurry. Smoke slowly. There is an opinion that it is not necessary to draw in the smoke, which is called "into oneself"; when smoking a pipe, it is important to feel the taste of tobacco, its aroma. Moreover, good tobacco will not burn the tip of the tongue and leave bitterness in the mouth.
Step 6
Be careful not to overheat the tube. Clean it in time, removing the ash with a spatula, and do not leave it unattended for a long time, it requires maintenance and periodic use.
