The undershirt is the first and most comfortable clothing for a newborn. No matter how much they would like to dress the baby in trendy costumes, and no matter how they criticized the "old methods" of caring for a newborn, in the end, caring mothers understand that they cannot do without undershirts, at least in the first months of a child's life.
What is she - a vest
You don't need a lot of undershirts for a newborn. Moreover, they will be useful for a very short time - for the first 4-5 months, and to whom it is even less. 5-6 warm undershirts are enough and the same number of thin ones.
For mothers who cannot sew, there is a good selection of undershirts on the shelves of children's stores. Only, when buying a vest, it is worth considering - it is put on the baby's naked body, and his skin is delicate and sensitive, so the fabric of the undershirt should be soft and necessarily natural.
Now a large percentage of children are born with a tendency to allergic reactions. Therefore, it is necessary to exclude everything that may entail this unpleasant moment, which, as a result, will lead to sleepless nights and stress for the mother.
Even a very small percentage of synthetics present in the fabric can cause an allergic reaction. Undershirts for newborns should be sewn from flannel, cambric, bikes, chintz, or calico.
Another important point - while the baby is just lying, it is advisable to put on the undershirt with a smell back - so it is more convenient to put it on and the baby will not have to be greatly disturbed. Also, in the undershirt, all the seams should be outward, since friction against them can also cause irritation on the baby's skin.
Sew a vest
If the mother has minimal sewing skills, she will be able to sew the undershirt on her own without much effort. This will allow you to save a little, even if you buy a more beautiful and high-quality fabric than from ready-made store undershirts.
To sew an undershirt, you need a pattern and a rectangular fabric measuring about 50 x 90 cm. The pattern can be made from a purchased or borrowed undershirt.
The pattern consists of two rectangles with sleeves, cutouts for the throat and allowances for wrap and scratches. Having such a pattern, you can sew a regular undershirt with short or long sleeves and a undershirt with scratches.
The easiest way is to sew a shirt with scratches.
Fold the rectangular fabric in half before cutting. Place the back part along the fold line so that the back is one-piece. The front parts are located on the opposite side - "jack" relative to the back part.
It must be remembered that all the lines remain on the front side of the undershirt. No seam allowances are needed here.
So, after cutting the undershirt, you should get three parts - two front and one-piece back. Then you should overfold the edges of the sleeves and, turning off the allowances for scratches on the front part, iron them.
Next, fold all three pieces together and overlock the side and shoulder seams. Now overlap the edges of the neckline, shelves and the bottom of the undershirt in a circular one line.
That's all. The undershirt with scratches is ready.
