Group creation and debut
Group "AOA" is a product of the large-scale production center "FNC Entertainment", which is located in South Korea. According to the tradition of Korean show business, the composition of the collectives of future youth idols is selected from carefully selected and trained teenagers - idols. Idols are good at public behavior, have the skill to perform on the big stage, and have a good reputation. For the band members, the producers come up with a legend. The official website of the group says that "AOA" is seven angels and one half-angel who, through a crystal ball, watch the activities of mankind. The name itself means "The Best of Angels".
They play music and sing flawlessly. The presentation of the band's history on the website and the first single took place in June 2012. In the same year, a video was released. In the center of Seoul, teenage flash mobs were held as part of an advertising campaign. The first performance of the project took place on the air of the TV show "M Countdown". On this TV show, artists usually present their new songs, and the audience and the jury vote and choose the winners.
The growing popularity of the group
In South Korea, teenage groups are very popular, although on the stage of Europe and America, one can notice a decline in the demand for groups consisting of young stars. The global promotion of the group falls on the year the team was created. The band released a second single, followed by a second video. Already in 2013, the group began its first foreign tours: the group performed at a music festival in Singapore. The group's fame went beyond its home country in October 2014. AOA has assembled a stadium in Tokyo. The album climbed in world rankings and charts. The songs "Miniskirt" and "Call you bae" became especially popular. Change of image
At the beginning of the creation of the group, the project had a business card - angelic images of the group members. Girls wore white dresses or skirts both for stage performances and for filming photos and videos.
In the video "Get out", which was released in 2012, the girls began experimenting with their image. The members of the group tried on the images of the main characters of Hollywood films: "Lara Croft", "Romeo and Juliet", "The Fifth Element" and "Kill Bill".
Two years later, a video for the track "Short hair" was released. In it, the girls completely changed their appearance: hairstyles, clothing style and manner of performing songs. In the video, outfits alternate: short pink shorts, bunny ears, cheerleader costumes, bright dresses.
A month later, the group changed their image again: the girls tried on the role of impudent female cats in the video for the song "Like a cat". The singers wear red leather clothes and black short shorts in the clip. The girls are no longer at all similar in demeanor and appearance to the chaste angels from the first version of the group.
In the 2015 video for "Heart attack", the members of the group appeared in the images of girls from the cheerleading team.
The video for the song "I am jelly baby", which was released in 2016 and became the debut of the "Cream" subgroup, helped the girls visit the pages of various magazines, including European ones, for example, "Cosmopolitan". In the video, the girls return to innocent style. White, pink and other pastel colors prevail in clothes, make-up, hairstyles and interiors. The dance moves are also soft and fluid.
In the video for the song "Exuse me", which was released on the first day of 2017, the soloists appeared as spies in retro clothes. The hair and makeup of the vocalists are also kept in natural, not very bright colors.

When the project was created, it had two versions. "AOA white" is a group of singing and dancing girls. The version called "AOA black" is a group in which girls sing and play different musical instruments. In 2016, another subgroup appeared called "cream".
Jimin is in charge of the group. She is a songwriter, writes lyrics for herself and other singers in the group. Jimin was born in 1991. Her zodiac sign is Capricorn.
