Strings are consumables when playing a stringed musical instrument. Even with very good care, dusting after each lesson or performance, not a single string will last more than a month of work. Therefore, every string musician is obliged to learn how to change strings.

Instructions

Step 1

Regardless of the type of string instrument (plucked, bowed, balalaika, violin, guitar), there are pegs on the headstock or on the frame (like on a harp). When turned in one direction, the string is stretched more, in the opposite direction, it relaxes. Relax each string in turn so that there are no strands left on the tuning machine. Then remove the end of the string from the tuning hole and from the saddle.

Step 2

Stretch the first (thinnest) string, tune to the desired sound ("mi" on the violin and guitar, "G" on the balalaika). Then the extreme on the other side. Stretch the same way. Stretch the strings in one direction, preferably in the same way as the old strings were stretched.

Step 3

Pull the rest of the strings in this order: second, fifth, third, fourth. Adjust each one when pulling to the desired tone.

Step 4

Tune the instrument again and let it rest for a while. Then set it up again.
