A distinctive feature of the Irish patterns, or "arans", is that they are oblique. This is achieved thanks to the sequencing technique used during knitting. Whatever Irish patterns are: ropes, bumps, and nets …
It is necessary
- - knitting needles;
- - yarn.
Instructions
Step 1
Tie a wide braid motif. To do this, cast on the knitting needles 29 loops. Work the first row like this: 3 crossed stitches to the left, purl 2, 9 crossed stitches to the right, then purl 1, 9 crossed stitches to the left, purl 2 and 3 crossed loops to the right. Knit the second and subsequent even rows according to the pattern, that is, how the picture looks. Knit the third row with the following sequence of loops: knit 3, purl 2, knit 9, purl 1, knit 9, purl 2 and knit 3. Fifth row: 3 crossed stitches to the left, purl 2, knit 9, purl 1, knit 9, purl 2 and 3 crossed loops to the right. The seventh row will be similar to the fifth, only the first and last three loops will not be crossed, but the usual front ones: with the crossed knit a combination of 9 loops (first the cross goes to the right, and then to the left). Knit the ninth, thirteenth and seventeenth rows in the same way: 3 crossed loops to the right, purl 2, knit 5, purl 1, knit 1 loop one row below, then knit three times (purl 1 + 1 loop knitted next to below), purl 1, knit 5, Purl 2 and 3 crossed to the right. The eleventh, fifteenth and nineteenth rows are the same: knit 3, purl 2, knit 5, knit four times (purl 1 + 1 loop knitted next to below), purl 1, knit 5, purl 2 and knit 3.
Step 2
Tie the motif "thin elongated braid". Cast on 12 stitches. Knit the first, fifth and ninth rows as follows: purl 1, front 1, purl 2, 6 crossed loops to the left, purl 2. Knit all even rows according to the pattern. The third, seventh, eleventh, thirteenth, fifteenth and seventeenth rows are the same, so knit them like this: Purl 1, K1, Purl 2, K6, Purl 2.
Step 3
Tie the flagella motif. Cast on 18 stitches. Knit the first row as follows: 3 front-purl twisted loops (1 front loop, and the next two purl), 3 purl-front twisted loops (remove one loop, knit 2 loops with purl, and knit the loop returned to the working knitting needle) and repeat this sequence to the end of the row. Knit all even rows according to the picture. The third, fifth and seventh rows will be as follows: 1 front, 4 purl, 1 front and so on until the end of the row. Knit the ninth and eleventh rows in this way: 3 crossed to the left, 3 crossed to the right, and so on to the end of the row. Knit the thirteenth, fifteenth and seventeenth rows. Nineteenth row: 3 crossed to the right, 3 crossed to the left, and so on until the end of the row.
