Instructions
Step 1
Find the clothes you will be embroidering on. Pay attention to the color and texture of the fabric. So, for cross-stitch or satin stitch embroidery, it is better to choose linen, cotton or other fabric in which the threads are intertwined crosswise. Knitted items require a special approach; embroidery with beads, ribbons or crochet will look good on them.
Step 2
Come up with a pattern or embroidery pattern. To do this, take any ornament you like and convert it to units of measurement in accordance with the knitting technique. To simplify your work and get a guaranteed result, use ready-made diagrams from books, magazines or needlework sites.
Step 3
Buy the materials you need for embroidery. Pay attention to the full correspondence of threads, beads, ribbons to clothes, rely on your taste. They need to stand out well, so contrast is essential. It is good if the embroidery is in harmony with other items of clothing - a bag, shoes, accessories.
Step 4
If possible, pull the part to be embroidered over the hoop. If you are embroidering a collar, hoop one part, and hoop the other with threads to the other half, so that the product is evenly taut.
Step 5
Try not to stretch the knitted fabric, but to fix it in its normal state by hoop to one of the rings. Embroidery on knitwear also has its own nuances. It is best to use loop-to-loop seams, bowtie, tambour, stalk. If you are beading the item, place the beads on the loops of these seams on the front of the item.
Step 6
To cross stitch, get a so-called removable canvas (canvas with a sparse arrangement of threads). Baste a piece of the required size to the clothing around the perimeter and embroider directly over the cells, according to the pattern. After finishing work, simply pull out the threads of the canvas or dissolve it in water.
Step 7
Hide the ends of the threads from the inside of the product by threading them into the stitches. If the threads do not fade, gently wash the garment by hand and iron with an iron with minimal heat. Beaded items should be washed very carefully, as they can peel off and lose their elegant look.
