A cheerful striped hat, worn by the favorite fairytale hero of many generations of children, will suit both a boy and a girl. It can be worn outdoors and even worn at a matinee. It is better to knit such a hat from fine wool or semi-wool on circular knitting needles.

Instructions
Step 1
Calculate the number of knit stitches. Tie a sample, wash and steam. Measure the circumference of the baby's head and the length of the sample. Multiply the number of stitches in the specimen by the girth of the head and divide this by the length of the specimen This way you will find out how many loops you need to cast. When knitting with circular knitting needles, edge loops are not counted.
Step 2
Pinocchio's cap can be tied with a lapel. Cast on the needles the required number of loops with the main threads. Knit the first row with purl loops, close the knitting in a circle and continue to knit with purl. Remember where you start the row. After knitting 4-5 cm, go to the front ones.
Step 3
After knitting another 4-5 cm, you can start knitting the strips. Secure the thread from the wrong side. Do not break the main thread. It is best to take several baby buckets or jars of mayonnaise and put one ball in them so that the threads do not get tangled. Having knitted the required number of rows in a different color, stretch the main thread along the wrong side of the work and wrap it 1 time around the one with which you knitted the strip. Try to keep the loop as close to knitting as possible. Alternate stripes. Knit straight for another 15-20 centimeters.
Step 4
Start decreasing the loops. It is more convenient to perform this stage on five knitting needles, but you can also use two. Divide the row into 4 parts, mark these places with knots of a different color. On the first row, knit the last 2 stitches together in the first and third parts. Knit the second row and all even ones according to the pattern, and along the third, knit the last loops together in the second and fourth quarters. Thus, reduce the number of loops until there are 6-8 of them. Break off the thread, thread it through the needle and pull off the loops.
Step 5
Make a pompom or tassel. For the pom-pom, cut 2 identical cardboard rings. Thread the end of the thread through the hole, make 1 turn around the ring and tie it to the thread coming from the ball to form a loop. Passing the ball through the hole, wrap the entire ring. Thread the needle with the same thread. Run it around the inner circumference of the ring under all the threads and tighten. Along the outer circumference, cut all the threads as evenly as possible. Tie a knot on the thread properly. Sew on and fluff up the pompom. Pinocchio's hat can be decorated with a brush.
