The durability of the painting directly depends on the careful preparation of the surface. If the wall is poorly prepared, the paint will very quickly change color, peel off or begin to crumble.

Instructions

Step 1

Completely clean the wall surface of old wallpaper, paint, whitewash and any other elements. You can do this with a metal brush, scraper, and spatula. It is best to moisten paper wallpapers with water, after scratching the surface with a wallpaper tiger or a roller with nails.

Step 2

For the most difficult options, you will need to purchase a special removal fluid. If, in this case, cleaning is still difficult enough, use a grinder.

Step 3

Degrease the cleaned wall with white spirit or turpentine. This will ensure good adhesion of the surface with subsequent layers of plaster. For degreasing, use a cloth moistened with a sufficient amount of solution. Work with gloves. Alternatively, you can complete this wall preparation step with a special construction primer following the instructions on the package.

Step 4

Level the wall by removing large irregularities. To do this, apply several thin layers of plaster to the surface. Then use a finishing putty to bring the wall to a perfectly level state. Unevenness of plasterboard walls can be removed by filling only the attachment points of the sheets. Once the surface is dry, sand it and remove the resulting dust.

Step 5

For the last step, apply a primer based on acrylic polymers to the entire surface. This can be done with a roller or brush.

Step 6

If the painting will be located in a room with high humidity, for example, in a pool, bathroom or near a sink, use a special moisture-proof primer. It will harden the surface well and provide maximum adhesion between the base and the paint layer. This soil dries no more than 4 hours, after which the surface will be completely ready for painting.
