In any home there are old napkins that are both a pity to throw away and nowhere to store. Sometimes new napkins donated by friends and relatives seem rustic and do not find use in the house. Embroidery using the cross-stitch or satin stitch technique can revive an old thing or decorate a new one.
It is necessary
- Floss threads;
- Embroidery needle;
- Embroidery patterns (better in color);
- Copy paper;
- Napkins;
- Hoop;
- Iron Cross stitching requires a special structure of the fabric, it should look like a canvas (consist of equal squares with clearly defined holes in the corners). But this technique is easier to perform. First of all, choose where the future pattern will be located: All over the napkin, around the edges, in the center or on one edge.
Instructions
Step 1
Cross stitching requires a special structure of the fabric, it should look like a canvas (consist of equal squares with clearly defined holes in the corners). But this technique is easier to perform. First of all, choose where the future pattern will be located: along the entire napkin, along the edges, in the center or on one edge.
Step 2
Dampen the fabric and iron. Select a pattern and place the napkin fabric in the hoop. Start embroidering using the colors indicated in the chart: first a series of stitches from the lower left corner of the square to the upper right, then a series from the lower right to the upper left. Do not make knots to secure the thread. Hide the ends under the embroidery threads on the wrong side.
Step 3
The ironing surface is not so demanding on the fabric; for this technique, you can also use a smooth, without a pronounced texture, canvas. First, select the future embroidery location and transfer the design from the diagram to the fabric.
Step 4
In this technique, there are more stitches: back with a needle, forward with a needle, stem and others. Use everything as needed. Make seams of different lengths to achieve a smooth color transition.
