Step 1
If you can draw at least a little, then draw some subject or landscape on the lamp. Or just paint stripes in the main tones of the room. To do this, use acrylic paints. Use masking tape to get a clear drawing. Paint over the borders of the drawing and paint over. Let the paint dry and then paint the next section. In case you want to achieve a watercolor effect, do not paint clear boundaries, even let the paints overlap. However, do not cover the lampshade with a thick coat of paint. Remember that the lamp must transmit light.
Step 2
If you don't know how to draw, use the decoupage technique. Using the most common napkins, you can create absolutely any image, be it a sky with clouds or a copy of a famous painting. Densely grease the lampshade with PVA glue. Peel off the top layer of the patterned napkin and stick it to the surface. Coat the top with glue again. Cut a napkin at the top and bottom of the lampshade and glue it from the inside out. Everything should look neat. If you think the glue is too noticeable, don't worry, as soon as it dries, the glue will become transparent and the lamp will look amazing.
Step 3
To decorate a nautical lamp, wrap a rope around the lampshade or glue on a pair of seashells or a starfish.
Step 4
Decorate the edge of the lamp with tassels, braid, sequins or beads. Your lamp will turn out glamorous.
Step 5
Paint the lamp stand in a suitable color. It is easier to do this with paint in an aosol can. However, you shouldn't do this indoors. Go out into the street or staircase. If you want to give the rack a distressed look, paint it with silver, gold, or bronze paint with a dry brush. Thus, a "touch of antiquity" will appear. The paint can be purchased at any art salon.
Step 6
