It is necessary

  • - decoupage card
  • - decoupage napkin
  • - canvas
  • - PVA glue
  • - acrylic lacquer
  • - acrylic paints
  • - contours
  • - water
  • - brushes

Instructions

Step 1

In order to make decoupage on canvas, we need a decoupage napkin or decoupage card and canvas. This is a primed fabric sold on cardboard or on a stretcher. Both of these options come in different sizes. Depending on what we will use for decoupage - a decoupage card or a napkin, we will also select the size of the canvas.

Step 2

If we are using a rice decoupage card, we will work in the following order. First, carefully tear off the edge of the decoupage card, then put it in water for a few minutes. When making decoupage on canvas, you cannot overexpose it in water, since the rice card is very thin and can tear from water. Then we put it on the canvas and apply PVA glue on top, diluted half with water. You can step back from the edge a few centimeters to make an imitation of a mat. With a cotton napkin, gently press the card to the canvas and wait for it to dry completely. Then we apply acrylic varnish, acrylic paints and contours, we emphasize the colors. The contour can be applied with a dry flat brush. Cover the finished decoupage on canvas with several layers of acrylic varnish.

Step 3

If we use a decoupage napkin, we work in the following order. Separate the topmost layer from the napkin, with which we will work. Pour some glue and water onto the canvas. We put the napkin on top and, straightening the folds, glue it to the canvas. Decoupage on canvas is easier to do than on wood or on a plate. Then we do the same as when working with a decoupage card. Apply acrylic varnish, then paint on with acrylic paints and apply varnish layers again. Do not forget to completely dry the layer after each application of paint or varnish before proceeding to the next stage of work.
