The tradition of felting wool originated in countries where sheep and goats are raised. Felting is based on the property of woolen hairs to entangle and thicken. Among needlewomen, dry and wet felting is common.
It is necessary
Multi-colored non-spun wool, special needles for felting, foam sponge, thick piece of polyethylene film, mosquito net, liquid soap or dishwashing liquid, spray bottle, rolling pin
Instructions
Step 1
The dry method of felting wool is similar to modeling from plasticine, with the ability to remove or add volume.
Place a piece of wool on a foam sponge. If the product needs halftones, then add shreds of wool in other shades. Repeatedly stick the needle into the woolen ball. Felting needles have special notches, due to which the shreds of wool are compacted and felted together, giving the product volume.
This method can be used to create a felt toy or decoration.
Step 2
Wet felting in an alkaline environment.
Lay out bundles of wool on a piece of film. Spread the wool evenly so that the thickness of the product is the same over the entire area. Try to arrange the tufts of wool in different directions for the strength of the product.
Lay out the pattern from wool of other colors.
Step 3
Cover the woolen cloth with a mosquito net so that the layers do not move when felting.
Pour diluted liquid soap or dishwashing liquid into a spray bottle. Moisten the woolen blank abundantly. It is necessary that the entire coat is well wet.
Step 4
Roll a woolen cloth with your hands, that is, iron and rub it in different directions. Gradually increase the pressure until the web is quietly moving away from the net. Remove the net and turn the woolen cloth over. Continue to play with your hands.
Pull the tip of the canvas, if the woolen strands do not lag behind, then the workpiece has fallen off.
Step 5
Rinse the cloth under warm water to remove soap residues. Squeeze lightly and leave to drain.
Now you can cut out a bag, scarf from this blank, or simply hang it on the wall.
