Soft knitted berets have not gone out of style for almost a century. This is the most romantic and feminine headdress that suits almost all women. To knit such a beret with knitting needles is not at all difficult. You can replenish your wardrobe in one or two evenings.

It is necessary

  • - 100 g of yarn (65% merino wool, 35% cashmere);
  • - 5 stocking needles # 5, 5;
  • - 5 stocking needles # 6.

Instructions

Step 1

Link a sample. To do this: type seventeen loops on the needles number 6 and knit 23 rows with the front stitch: one row - all the front loops, and the second - purl, then alternate the rows. After 23 rows, you should get a square of 10x10 cm. The beret is knitted on stocking needles in a circle, so all rows are knitted only with front loops.

Step 2

Cast on 8 stitches on needles # 6 (2 stitches for each knitting needle) and knit in circular rows with front stitch. At the same time, in every second circular row, add 2 loops on each knitting needle, knitting in the middle and at the end of each knitting needle a front crossed loop from a transverse thread. To do this: pick up the cross thread connecting the two loops with the left knitting needle moving away from you, insert the right knitting needle into it from right to left and, grabbing it by the back wall, knit the front loop. After 38 circular rows from the typesetting edge, 152 loops should be in work (38 loops on each knitting needle).

Step 3

Tie a contrasting thread to every 19th loop and then start to decrease. To do this, knit in each 2nd circular row the marked loop along with the previous front one. After 14 circular rows (or after 52 rows from the typesetting edge), 96 loops will remain in the work. Untie the contrasting threads or carefully, without damaging the beret, cut with scissors.

Step 4

Go to needles No. 5, 5 and then knit an elastic band: alternately 1 front loop, 1 purl. After knitting 7 cm of elastic bands (about 20 rows), close all loops freely. Fold the elastic in half, fold inward and sew carefully. The beret is ready.

Step 5

The finished beret can be left unchanged (knitted from plain yarn, it looks very elegant), or you can add a twist to it and decorate it with embroidery from the same or another (contrasting) yarn or embroider with sequins and sparkles, or you can sew on one or more crocheted flowers …
