A patchwork tablecloth made of bright, beautiful remnants of fabrics, sewn using the patchwork technique, will decorate an interior in an apartment or in a country house. It is not so difficult to make it.
It is necessary
- For a tablecloth with a diameter of 192 cm:
- - cotton fabric 120 cm wide:
- - 1, 60 m blue;
- - 1.0 m blue and white polka dots;
- - 0, 80 m blue-white with flowers:
- - 0, 60 m blue with white apples;
- - 0, 50 m striped blue and white;
- - 0.30 m white with blue bindweed;
- - 4 m of white fabric (for lining);
- - threads matching the color;
- - cardboard, cutter (sharp knife).
Instructions
Step 1
Pattern a hexagon pattern. It must be drawn on hard cardboard and then cut out with a sharp knife. To facilitate cutting, you can make a larger template, taking into account the seam allowances.
Step 2
Cut out hexagonal pieces with a 1 cm seam allowance, outlining the pattern along the contour, in the following order: 144 - from blue fabric with white apples, 361 - from blue fabric, 54 - from white fabric with blue bindweed, 192 - from blue and white floral fabric, 96 - blue and white striped fabric, 216 hexagons - blue and white polka dot fabric. Position the template along the line thread of the fabric when cutting.
Step 3
For the lining, cut out 2 rectangles of 1 * 2 m in size. Lay out the shreds of the same shape according to the optimal layout (see picture). Sew the parts according to the diagram, starting from the middle. Real patchwork is always hand-sewn. Sew the parts on a sewing machine if desired. The diagram shows 0.25 of the area of the entire tablecloth, the rest (0.75) is sewn in the same way.
Step 4
Unscrew the seam allowances of the "patches" and iron them on the wrong side, then join the shreds with the right sides inward in accordance with the pattern and sew over the edge with small stitches. When sewing parts on a sewing machine, accuracy in work should be observed, since a distortion of the product occurs in a few millimeters of difference. After stitching, iron out the allowances for each seam.
Step 5
Join the finished product with the lining. Two white rectangles cut from the lining fabric, sew along the longitudinal cuts, iron the seam. Then fold over the top of the tablecloth and lining with the wrong sides and baste with wide stitches.
Step 6
Cut out the edges of the lining with a 1 cm allowance, trying on the size of the top of the tablecloth. Fold over the seam allowances to the wrong side by cutting the fabric at the corners and hand-sew the top of the tablecloth and the edges of the lining.
