Step 1
Choose a satin ribbon. Depending on what size the rose is needed, you can choose a ribbon with a width of 0.5 cm to 3 cm. Do not take a narrower ribbon, since it will be difficult to fix the core of the future flower. Wide ribbons are also not suitable, as the flowers are not very graceful. The optimal width is 1 cm. Also pay attention to the material from which the tape is woven. The best option for making roses is artificial silk. Its cut can be scorched, and the tape will not crumble.
Step 2
Cut off a piece of tape. Based on its thickness: if the width of the ribbon is 1 cm, you will need about 20 cm to create a flower. Singe the edges.
Step 3
Prepare your thread and needle. The thread should differ slightly from the color of the ribbon, but it is better if they fit perfectly together. Cut the short thread and thread it into the needle.
Step 4
Determine where the middle of the tape is. Make a fold at this point so that there is a 90 degree angle between the ends of the tape. Now, alternately lay the ends of the tape on top of each other. One end changes direction from right to left and vice versa, and the other - from top to bottom. Do this until the ends of the ribbon are short. You will have a twisted pigtail.
Step 5
Take the resulting braid with the thumb and forefinger of your left hand. With the fingers of your right hand, take the end that ends the weaving, fix the other end in your left hand. Pull the ribbon with your right hand, the pigtail will gently twist into a twisted flower. When it is as large as you want, insert the needle from the bottom up in the center of the bud, make several through stitches so that the flower does not crumble. Sew a bead or beads into the center of the bud, if desired.
Step 6
Secure the thread to the outside of the rose. Cut off the extra piece of tape, singe the cut. After several workouts, it will be possible to make flowers without cutting off the ribbon - this will allow you not to throw out the extra pieces.
