Making dolls from nylon tights is called textile sculpture, since a wide variety of images can be formed from this material. Both pink-cheeked kids and old people turn out to be very cute.
Necessary materials
To make dolls, you will need nylon tights. It is quite possible to use old, torn ones, but it is much more convenient to sew from new ones. Choose a flesh-colored 20 denier tights. In addition to them, you will need:
- synthetic winterizer;
- yarn for making hair;
- scissors;
- thick wire;
- nippers;
- long needle;
- reinforced threads to match the fabric;
- scraps of cotton material for clothing;
- ready-made eyes for toys;
- acrylic paints;
- blush;
- brush;
- polymer glue.
Head
The first stage in creating a doll from tights is making a head. Cut a piece of tights about 15-20 cm long. Tie a knot on one side. Fill the resulting bag with padding polyester and tie with a knot on the other side. Now you can start the most interesting thing - shaping the face of the future doll.
In the middle of the workpiece, pull out a little padding polyester with your fingers and shape the nose. Sew a couple of stitches on both sides of the bridge of the nose, then pull the needle out at the intended location of the nostril, sew a stitch and pull the needle out where the second nostril should be. Use your fingers to shape your nose. Make cheeks, mouth and expression lines in the same way.
On both sides of the bridge of the nose, glue ready-made doll eyes with hot polymer glue (they are sold in handicraft stores). Cut a small piece of fabric from your pantyhose and fold it in half. Apply to the eyes, tuck the excess fabric over to form the eyelids. Sew on carefully with blind stitches.
Torso
Make the doll's torso. For this, it is necessary to make a wire frame. Fold the wire in half, twist in the middle, forming a small loop, then make a couple of turns for the neck. Spread the ends of the wire apart. Form a frame for the arms, then for the body and legs. Cut off excess wire.
Wrap the wire with padding polyester and sew all over with nylon tights. Form toes and feet. To do this, sew over the edge with a stitch, imitating fingers.
Attach the torso on the frame to the prepared doll's head. Sew the details by making a few stitches through the buttonhole. Pull the knots on the sides of the face at the back of the head and sew them.
Make the doll's hair. Cut pieces of yarn, fold them and attach in the middle of the top of the head. Sew the needle seam forward. Trim or braid your braids.
Sew an outfit for the doll using colorful patches. Add expressiveness to your face. Use acrylic paints to paint eyebrows and lips. Apply the blush to your cheeks with a cosmetic blush.
