The vast majority of crochet patterns are based on a combination of columns with different numbers of crochets and stitches. Unfinished columns do not come across so often, but you need to know how to knit them. They can be the basis for performing, for example, a group of posts with a common top. Such columns are also used to perform shortened rows.

Instructions
Step 1
Tie a chain of stitches. A row of single crochet stitches below the one that is obtained when knitting with a crochet. Therefore, it is enough to make only 1 loop for the rise.
Step 2
Insert a regular crochet into the stitch just as you would for a regular bar. Grab the working thread and pull out the loop. You already have an unfinished half-column. This technique will also come in handy in the future, and you need to know about it. In order for the half-column to remain unfinished, it does not need to be knitted together with the loop on the hook. There should be 2 loops. Insert the hook into the next stitch and pull out the working thread in the same way. Thus, knit as many half-columns as required according to the figure.
Step 3
Unfinished single crochet stitches are knitted in 2 steps. In the same way as when performing unfinished half stitches, insert the crochet into the chain stitch or post of the previous row. Grab the working thread and pull out the loop. Grab the thread again, as you would for simple stitches, and pull it through the loop you made before. The hook should have 2 loops. When knitting a simple column, you would connect them together with another loop, but now you do not need to do this. Move on to the next incomplete single crochet.
Step 4
Make the required number of unfinished posts. If the pattern requires you to connect them together, then knit the last one in a row as described in the previous step. Then grab the working thread and pull it through all the loops of the unfinished half stitches on the hook. You have 2 loops left again. Grab a working thread with your crochet and knit them together in the usual way. In the description of the picture, it can be indicated that all the loops of the group are knitted together with the first loop in one technique, and not two.
Step 5
It may also be necessary to knit in shortened rows using such columns. It is more convenient to crochet it on a fishing line. At the beginning of the row, make the required number of unfinished simple stitches. Then knit a row as required by the pattern and pattern. Having tied it to the end, turn the knitting over and knit another row. Knit the end stitches into the open stitches of the unfinished stitches. Do it like this. Insert the hook into the loop of the unfinished column, pull the thread and knit the resulting loop along with the one on the hook. Knit the rest of the stitches in the same way. A similar technique is used if it is necessary to smoothly increase the width of the product.
