Water games, races and competitions with homemade sailing yachts are a favorite pastime for many children, and no one will refuse to take part in such a competition, and even more so - in creating a custom-made yacht out of cardboard. Such a yacht keeps well on the water and sails forward even in light winds. To create a yacht, you will need a little time, as well as millimeter cardboard, scissors, a breadboard knife, glue, a glue brush, a ruler and an awl.

Instructions

Step 1

Make or copy drawings of the hull, keel, mast and sail of the future yacht. Glue the hull from the bottom, sides, transom and deck by applying glue to the edges of the parts and pressing them tightly together. Do not put too much glue on the parts so that it does not ruin the surface of the cardboard and does not dry for too long.

Step 2

Glue each seam separately and keep the glued place under load until the glue dries completely - then the yacht hull will turn out to be even and symmetrical. Cover the inside of the case with a waterproof varnish.

Step 3

Cover the hull with the upper and lower decks, which need to be glued together and covered with waterproof paint. Bend the cable hooks out of the soft wire. Reinforce the hooks on the deck. Cut a keel out of thin plywood and attach 150-200 g ballast to it - you can take a heavy tin piece for ballast. Glue the keel into the slot in the bottom of the yacht, and then glue the assembled decks into the hull, first gluing the deck at the stern.

Step 4

Then proceed to glue the breakwater to be cut out of thick paper. Glue it to the top deck. Use colored paper to make deck seats.

Step 5

Carefully cut the masts and boom out of the pine lath, sand the masts with sandpaper and varnish. Insert a piece of steel wire into the base of the mast and attach a wire bracket to the boom to secure it to the mast with a hinge.

Step 6

Cut out sails from thin paper or fabric and fasten them to masts and shrouds with thread or glue. For guys, make a hole at the top of the mast and place between the breakwater and the cockpit of the guy. Attach a few threads to the yacht's boom and staysail. Attach a wind direction pennant to the top of the mast.

Step 7

Paint and varnish the finished yacht. Apply a waterline to the outside of the hull. So that the yacht can float, paint the hull with nitro paint, and then mix the nitro paint with tooth powder and putty on the outside of the yacht. Sand the yacht with sandpaper and re-coat with nitro paint.
