To sew any item you like without problems, you must be able to cut. Many do not want to start sewing, because they are intimidated by the seemingly difficult process of cutting. However, learning how to cut is easy enough.

It is necessary

  • measurements;
  • needles;
  • scissors;
  • paper;
  • pencil;
  • crayon

Instructions

Step 1

The first step to the ability to cut should be the step of building patterns. To do this, you need to be able to take basic measurements and know how to apply them to the type of clothing that you want to create. The main pattern is drawn up on paper. It is on it that you need to outline where the darts should be, and transfer the real dimensions. And only then start working with the fabric.

Step 2

Before starting cutting, experts recommend decating the fabric. That is, pre-treat it with a wet-heat method. This is necessary so that the fabric shrinks even during the cut, and not in the finished product. It should be done like this. If the finished product is supposed to be washed, then the fabric must first be washed at the same temperature and in the same mode in which it will happen later. The dried fabric should be ironed.

Step 3

Now start cutting out the desired item. As a rule, the fabric is usually cut in half along the inside out. The edge must be in contact with the edge. This method is especially good when you need to get symmetrical details.

Step 4

Lay out your paper pattern on the prepared fabric, pin it with pins. Draw the lines along which you will cut with chalk. Do not forget to leave room for seams - about 1, 5 centimeters (for thin fabrics can be smaller, for thick ones - more).

Step 5

Do not forget about the tools with which you will be cutting. For this, well-sharpened tailor's scissors are needed so that they do not crumple, tear or deform the fabric. Cut it out? Now you can start sewing.
