Star Trek: Enterprise is the fifth film in the Star Trek epic that began in 1966. It tells about the crew of a ship capable of going beyond the solar system to explore deep space. The actors played their roles brilliantly. Gripping storyline created by Rick Berman and Brennon Braga. This provided a lot of fans for the series. The first episode aired in 2001. The final episode aired in May 2005.
Fans of space sagas highly appreciated the new multi-part project. The performers were pleased with the images they liked. Both the creators and the artists did their best.
General idea
The cast was chosen very carefully. This fantastic action movie was liked by movie fans, in part, for this reason. The project clearly shows the formation of a space society. Thanks to the efforts of the make-up artists, the representative of extraterrestrial civilizations turned out to be very believable. The excellent fantasy of the scriptwriters ensured the attention of the viewers, made them empathize, sad and rejoice together with the ship's crew.
From the first screenings, the picture received a high rating. The composition of the film crew did not remain unchanged throughout the entire work. The cast also changed. Manny Koto replaced the previous producers in the fourth season. He helped to unleash the full potential of the project. The Enterprise was the prequel to the entire Star Trek epic. Their action begins a century before the main events of the original series.
All four years, seven artists worked in the series. These are Scott Bakula, who became Captain Archer, Jan Billingsley, the ironic Dr. Phlox, the model Jolene Blalock who became T'Pol, Connor Trinnir, the Trip's chief engineer. Dominic Keating, Lieutenant Malcolm Reed, Linda Pak, Hoshi SATO liaison officer, Anthony Mongomery, helmsman Mayweather are also a regular participant in all seasons.
Scott Bakula
The character of the ship's commander, Jonathan Archer, was not influenced by the traits of specific people. The performer of his role, Scott Bakula, was fond of Shatner. The actor was attracted by the prospect of becoming the first captain. This resolved the issue of consent to the shooting. Unlike his character, who in the original reads Les Miserables by Hugo and adores Wells' Time Machine, Scott is more into sports pages.
Born in 1954, Bakula became famous for his role as a scientist in Quantum Leap. On the big screen, the artist appeared in one of the main roles of the thriller "Color of the Night". Was engaged in a performer and dubbing. He gave Danny's voice to Cats Don't Dance. At 199, the artist played in the film "American Beauty". The actor does not leave work on stage, plays in musicals.
Bakula's character in the film is a courageous man. He became the personification of intellectual charm. If the captain is confident that he is right, he is not afraid to disobey the order. He dreams of conquering space with the engine developed by his father.
The end of filming was a disappointment for Bakula. The last episode featured Marina Syrtis and Janathan Frakes, supporting other performers. Scott admitted that he really hoped for the studio's decision to keep the franchise.
Jolene Blalock
The actress's character is the First Science Officer, Sub-Commander T'Pol. She represents the race holding back the development of the Earth's deep space travel program. The temperament of the cocky heroine is very bright. Until recently, the actress insisted that it was better to leave her job than wait for the rating to drop to a minimum. However, the last season was the most successful, in her opinion.
The actress is sure that Vulcans tend to hide their temperament. According to the plot, the character is the first officer of her race who served on the ship of earthlings for so long. Thanks to the heroine, everyone, both the audience and the team, was able to get to know the Vulcans better. Jolene criticized both the series' writers and producers. She wanted the show to appeal to the intellect of TV amateurs, and dreamed of portraying the heroine differently.
Born in 1875, the actress began her career as a model at the age of seventeen. She often starred for the covers of men's magazines, including Playboy and Maxim. Her TV debut was the sitcom Veronica's Salon. The famous performer was offered the role of Medea in The Boat of Love, an adaptation of Jason and the Argonauts in 2000.
Connor Trinnir
Chief Engineer and Commander "Trip" Tucker III has a better role in Connor Trinnir's film career. He is confident that it is only possible to reach his full potential in an atmosphere of trust. His hero gave the performer a lot of chances for implementation.
He has a good sense of humor, dedication, strong character. It turned out to be a kind of Han Solo. Connor himself played the hero in no small amount of pleasure. He even had a chance to play from the script of a pregnant man. At the same time, the artist realized his own ideas, including a flash of anger.
Trinnir did not disappoint with the completion of the project. He counted, since almost half of the final episode is devoted to his character, then the ending is a kind of compliment. Still, the artist called the closure of the series premature. The promoters did everything to understand the popularity, but the change in audience did not allow achieving the goal.
Dominic Keating
The hero of the British performer was Malcolm Reed, a lieutenant, tactics officer. On the set, the actor realized that the series could be the last film in the franchise. Graduated from the history department of University College London, he performed in theatrical performances during his studies. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in History and tried many professions before pursuing an artistic career.
More than once, Dominic had difficulties because of his accent. However, the performer is completely satisfied with the role, saying that together with Trip, T'Pol and the Captain he managed to get a lot of screen time. The artist called his best episode "Shuttle number one", as he was one of the two in the series, and not a supporting actor. The most exciting season for him was the season of saving the Earth from Zindi. After leaving for London television, the English actor considered his career in the United States to be a real gamble.
Linda Park and Anthony Mongomery
Ensign Hoshi Sato is a liaison officer. At first, the character of the actress had a very difficult time. Then the heroine managed to prove that she was trustworthy. Linda's heroine only twice in the entire series demonstrated the importance of mutual understanding and communication.
Anthony Montgomery played the helmsman Ensign Travis Mayweather. Before that, the artist dreamed of the role of Tuvok's son. According to the plot, the hero of the artist began to work as a helmsman on the family's ship, but he wished to see the world. So he joined Starfleet and applied for a helmsman position.
The actor was annoyed that the creators of the series ignored the story of the character's family, he himself wanted to know more about it. But the evil Travis and the parallel universe, connected in Hoshi, he liked. Since childhood, the performer was fond of singing and dancing. He found his calling in the stand-up. After university, the actor starred in many films and released a solo album of songs.
Billingsley and Graham
The ship's chief physician, Phlox, became the character of John Billingsley. The artist did not know anything about the franchise, but he worked well with his colleagues. He really disliked the "Valuable Cargo" episode and adored the Trip cloning episode "The Double".
Billingsley was annoyed that his character was secondary. The character's story was limited by the medical bay, a couple of words about the home planet and stories about relatives. His smile became the visiting card of the doctor. At first, Billingsley was worried about the prospect of becoming a source of laughter, but as a real doctor he gained credibility, remaining an incorrigible optimist.
Minor, but no less significant, heroes included Gary Graham, who became Ambassador Soval, Jeffrey Combs, Captain Tylek Schran, Vaughn Armstrong, Admiral Maxwell Forest, Mat Wilson, who played the time traveler, Stephen Culp, Major Hayes and John Fleck, Suliban soldier Silik.
Vulcan Ambassador Soval stayed with Gary Graham. To work on the role, the artist used the recommendations of Rick Berman. One of the creators of the series tells the story that Vulcanians are ardent creatures by nature, therefore they are forced to control emotions. Blalock in makeup reminded the performer of his sister. He invited the writers to make her daughter Soval, but was refused. Until the end of filming, he believed in his idea. This helped the artist to brilliantly get used to the role.
Jeffrey Combs
Actor Jeffrey Combs has starred in four films in the franchise. He spoke of the received role of the Andorian Shran as a great success. His character has his own rhenium point about Vulcans. Shran considered his main task to be a revolution in the opinion of earthlings about them. To enter the frame, the actor spent several hours at the make-up artist.
Many celebrities have appeared on the set as invited guests. So, Joanna Cassidy, known for her participation in Blade Runner, musician Rick Verti, Seth MacFarlane, the creator of the famous Family Guy appeared in a multi-part project.
The work of all the performers brings great pleasure to all fans of the genre of space themes. Both roles and actors were added and disappeared as the script was rewritten. Star Trek: Voyager starring Roxanne Dawson Robert Duncan McNeill and Star Trek: The Next Generation members Michael Dorn and LeVar Burton directed several episodes of Star Trek: Enterprise.
