Charleston, boogie-woogie, foxtrot and a dozen other types of swing dances became fashionable after the movie "Hipsters". Half a century ago, fashionable boys and girls easily danced any of them. To try yourself in the image of a dudes today, you need to learn at least the simplest movements.
Instructions
Step 1
Swing dancing, like this musical movement itself, has its origins in the culture of black Americans. Hence their important principles: relaxedness, enthusiasm, clear rhythm and plasticity. In the post-war years, Soviet dudes loved to dance to jazz melodies. The daring and challenging dances suited their way of dressing and behaving - bright and different from others.
Step 2
One of the most revealing dances of dudes is the Charleston. Previously, it was banned even in the West due to violation of the limits of decency, and today Charleston is included in the curriculum for ballroom dancing and competitions in this sports discipline.
Step 3
The advantage of the Charleston is that it can be danced as a couple, singly or with a whole group of people. Experienced dancers use up to 74 moves; beginners can start with fewer. The main thing in it is improvisation and pleasure from movement.
Step 4
Charleston dance in size 4/4. One of the simplest movements is available even for children. Starting position - the legs are tightly brought together, the body is slightly tilted forward, the hands are locked into a lock (palms down), the arms are straightened. On the count of “one”, a semicircular movement of the left heel is made to the side at the same time, and the right leg is bent at the knee and pulled back and to the side. On the count of "two" - the starting position, on "three" and "four" repeat the same, changing legs.
Step 5
Slightly more difficult, but more fun and closer to real dudes, is the boogie-woogie pair dance. To perform one of the boogie-woogie figures, partners need to stand face to face at a short distance. The partner takes the partner's right hand with his left hand and takes a small step back with his right foot. When the leg is behind the left, the body weight is transferred to the right. Then the left leg is placed on the right and a half-support is made on it. Then the weight is transferred to the left leg, and a half-support is made to the right. The partner repeats all movements in a mirror image.
Step 6
Boogie-woogie became the progenitor of rock and roll, so you can even dance rock and roll steps instead.
