Year skirts are very feminine and elegant. A skirt of this cut creates a "flying" bottom line and delicately emphasizes the hips of its owner. Therefore, the cut has become a classic and has practically not gone out of fashion for many decades. How to build a basic drawing of a year skirt, read below.

Instructions
Step 1
The year skirt can be sewn in two ways. Wedges can be one-piece or set-in. For both methods, you will need to build a cut-out base for a straight skirt.
Step 2
Transfer the drawing to a sheet of paper, lengthen it to the desired length. Further, at the height of the hips, divide in half both the front and back panels, draw vertical lines. Transfer the darts to these lines without changing their size.
Step 3
Now form a year line. Usually, the flare is done 10-30 cm below the thigh line. Set aside the required amount from the thigh line and draw a horizontal line. The intersection points with the vertical lines will become the vertices of the godet wedge corners. Label them with the letter K.
Step 4
Depending on how fluffy you want to make the bottom of the skirt, the angle can be from 30 to 180 degrees. Draw corners with vertices at points K, and draw the bottom line with a smooth line. The length of the sides and the height of the corners must be equal.
Step 5
Using tracing paper, translate the drawing of each wedge separately (you should get 4 parts). You can start cutting on fabric. Please note that two parts are cut out for each wedge. In the same way, you can cut out a skirt consisting of 4, 6 or 12 gussets.
Step 6
To make a godet set-in wedge pattern, draw a circle whose radius should be equal to the desired wedge length. Now choose the width. It can be 1/6 of a circle (60 degrees) and ¼ (90 degrees), even ¾ or a full circle. It all depends on the model of the skirt and your desire.
Step 7
Divide the base pattern into parts, as described in step number 2, On the details, mark the height of the wedge stitching. The pattern is ready.
Step 8
Based on the basic pattern, you can create a huge variety of patterns. Experiment with the number of gussets, their length and width, add fan folds to the wedge, or make it layered with different fabrics. The effect will be simply amazing.
