Street art takes many forms. One of them is the volumetric drawings on the asphalt. The creation of such masterpieces requires not only patience and time, but also a sufficient amount of theoretical knowledge.
Street art is street art that has a distinct urban orientation. Among the many forms of street art, the most interesting are the volumetric drawings created by artists on the asphalt.
For the first time, volumetric images on asphalt began to appear in the middle of the 16th century in Europe. Itinerant artists used chalk to paint three-dimensional paintings of predominantly religious themes in large city squares. Most often in such works, the Madonna was depicted, which is why the artists who create optical illusions were nicknamed "Madonna". Some of the works were often accompanied by short poems, parables, and topical commentaries.
This type of street art reached its peak in popularity in the second half of the 20th century, and it happened in Europe and America. Since 1972, annual street art festivals have been held in Italy, where you can also admire three-dimensional drawings on the asphalt. Somewhat later, similar events were organized in the United States.
The volumetric effect in this type of street art is achieved by distorting the image in the plane.
If you look at the drawing from a certain point, the flat image seems to "rise" from the horizontal surface and acquire volume.
In Russia, three-dimensional drawings appeared only at the beginning of the 21st century. The first domestic Madonna was Philip Kozlov, a resident of Volgograd. Philip began to seriously engage in street art in 2008 and to date has completed more than 20 creative and advertising works. Philip was followed by Igor Soloviev and other authors.
Volumetric drawings on the asphalt do not last long, due to the fact that in their work Madonnari artists use pastels and chalk. Only in rare cases is paint used to create an artistic composition. The creative process usually takes 2-3 days.
Illusionary images on asphalt are actively used in advertising campaigns of such large companies as IKEA, Coca-Cola, Sony, Hitachi, Nike, DHL and others.
The most famous Madonnari painter in the world is Julian Beaver, a resident of Britain. Beaver creates his drawings using anamorphic design, when each element of the final picture is considered as independent.
For several decades of work, Julian Beaver has been actively involved in advertising campaigns for various brands in the USA, Great Britain, France, Brazil and Russia.
The second most popular creator of street art is Edgar Müller. The artist is 44 years old, and he was born in Germany. Edgar devoted about 20 years of his life to street art. The artist draws his drawings with oil and aerosol paints. The area of his artistic masterpiece can be up to 400 sq. m. And the creation of such a drawing takes no more than 5 days.
Another famous person is Eduardo Rolero, an Argentine artist temporarily residing in Spain. Unlike previous colleagues, Eduardo tries to bring more social and political meaning into his work. Each Madonnari drawing is filled with satire, criticism and philosophical overtones.
