A sketch of an eternal flame is best done from life. This way you can choose the most advantageous angle and reproduce the natural light of the subject. It will be possible to complete the drawing at home, focusing on the photograph.

Step 1
Determine the location of the sheet and the borders of the drawing on it. To do this, you need to decide which part of the square on which the memorial is located you will paint. Too many surrounding objects should not be included in the "frame" - this will distract attention from the main object.
Step 2
It is important to find a vantage point from which you will draw the eternal flame. If you stand directly in front of him, then drawing an object in the center of the sheet can look rather boring. Try looking for a more interesting compositional solution.
Step 3
When building a composition in the space of paper, keep in mind that a little "air" should remain around the center of the picture - an empty space. Make sure the object does not touch any of the edges of the sheet.
Step 4
Calculate the proportions of the objects and sketch. When creating a sketch from life, check how correct one or another line is. To do this, use the sighting method: extend your hand with a pencil forward and set the size of the side of the object on it. Count how many times it fits in other parts of the drawing. The same ratio will need to be reflected in the outline.
Step 5
Many memorials with an eternal flame are erected in the form of a five-pointed star. To draw it, draw the rays of the star as rays on the plane of the square. Then draw in all the sides of the shape. From each corner of the shape, lift a perpendicular equal to the height of the building. Draw lines parallel to the silhouette drawn on the plane. After that, draw a perpendicular from the center, the rays emanating from this point, connect with the upper points of the vertices of the star.
Step 6
Erase the guide lines and color the drawing with any materials. When designating shadows and penumbra on the surface of a star, keep in mind that it is illuminated by at least two sources (in the daytime).
Step 7
Finally, draw the flame of the eternal flame. Most likely, it will be slightly shifted to the side by the wind. Draw large tongues with the main color, and then add additional shades with small strokes.
