To write a literary work - regardless of whether it will be a story, a novel or a novel, you first need to choose a genre, and then come up with and develop a plot. Step 1
Decide in which genre you will write the literary work. Depending on this, find the language of the story. Whatever you decide on, it's important to keep your writing fairly simple. If a phrase written by you has to be re-read several times, such a work will not have a single integral sound.
Step 2
Think about the time when the main action takes place. If you want to transfer the characters to the past - worry about the reliability of the description of the environment. Any little thing that did not exist then (for example, a piece of clothing, utensils or food) can negate your attempt to recreate an era. The present is in this sense more blissful, and the future is a real scope for the author's imagination. The only point: in an attempt to draw the world in 100 or even 200 years, be logical in your presentation and do not strive for a bright, but chaotic, implausible description. Think about the fact that, apart from the subjects of scientific and technological progress, the world in the late 19th - early 20th century was not very different from our time.
Step 3
Describe the main actors. Remember one of the laws of creating literary works: there must be a conflict between the characters. If the genre you have chosen is melodrama, let He and She conflict. For example, a fragile, dreamy blonde, brought up by a prim English governess, and a rough, uncouth bumpkin who grew up among Canadian lumberjacks. Or another couple: a bold, determined tiger tamer and a feminine pretty youth from a refined society. This conflict should be not only between their images, but, of course, in action.
Step 4
Sketch your work. Do not rely on chance and do not let the heroes act at their will. Remember that you are the creator and they must obey your will. This is the only way to write a work that will find a place on the shelves of modern bookstores. If you want to create something "great" and "immortal" - do not listen to any advice. Write, sailing after your imagination and, perhaps, it will carry you to the shore, where the foot of a modern writer-writer rarely steps.
