Instructions

Step 1

Make the collection yourself. Collect all the texts, edit them, check for errors and typos.

Step 2

Choose the size of the book. If you have a standard printer, you can print it in A4 or A5 format. Lay out the pages according to these parameters. In the first case, place the sheets vertically, in the second - horizontally.

Step 3

Determine the font size (preferably at least 12 pt.), Leave standard indents from the page edge and spaces between parts of the text. Insert page numbers.

Step 4

Print the book. Make a cardboard cover for it and bind it. You can find handbinding charts on the Internet. In this way, it is convenient to make several gift copies of the collection for friends.

Step 5

If you need a circulation of tens or hundreds, delegate some of the tasks to professionals. Contact your print shop to find out how much the binding will cost. Specify separately the minimum circulation. Specify in which format you need to typeset and print the sheets. Your blanks will be folded, trimmed, covered and bound. Such books cannot be sold if you do not have a license.

Step 6

To release a full-fledged collection that is approved for sale, use the services of the publisher. They can print the book for free or at your expense. Send your works to publishers' email addresses. If they find him talented and the venture profitable, you won't pay a dime for the print run. Otherwise, offer cooperation at your expense.

Step 7

Find out the requirements for the design of the manuscript, which will need to be submitted in electronic form. Provide it on disk, flash drive or via e-mail. Specify all the conditions for publishing the collection and sign an agreement with the publisher.

Step 8

Your text will undergo editorial and proofreading checks, all significant edits will be coordinated with you. If necessary, the book will be provided with illustrations and an internal (from an employee of the publishing house) or external (from an independent specialist) review. During the preparation of the book for release, you have the right to participate in making decisions about its design. The publishing house sells the finished circulation on its own or transfers it to a bookselling company.

Step 9

Don't expect the collection to be published instantly. Large publishing houses are planning production for six months to a year in advance, so you may have to wait your turn.
