Not every florist can boast of ideal conditions for growing a home garden. The sun rarely glances into many apartments, which noticeably limits the choice of plants. However, even under this condition, you can pick up green pets that will decorate the interior. They should be located at a distance of 4-9 meters from the south window, 1-3 meters from the east and west, and about a meter from the north window.
Sansevieria or "mother-in-law's language" is a safe bet for beginners. It tolerates many errors in cultivation and is capable of reaching up to 1.5 m in height. However, there are other varieties - undersized and bushy.
Aglaonema can be compared to snails, which are often turned on by busy people in order to somehow come into contact with the fauna. This plant is very unpretentious and hardy, but it produces many narrow stems with large oval leaves of a wide range of colors: from silver and cream to green and yellowish. The only thing to consider is the strong toxicity of the plant, which both cats and children can chew. Well, the constant twilight of Aglaonema is not good - its leaves turn ordinary green.
Epipremnum golden is chosen by lovers of climbing plants. They are attracted by the interesting coloration of greenery and the ability to easily grow up to 2.5 meters. Moreover, growth and shape can be controlled by pinching the shoots in time.
Arrowroot tricolor is suitable for small rooms, because it reaches a height of only 30 cm. The adjective in the name of the plant perfectly describes its appearance: delicate white flowers and light green leaves with red or burgundy veins. To make the arrowroot pleasing to the eye, you need to keep the earthen lump moist from early spring to autumn, and the rest of the time to water less often, allowing it to overwinter.
The same three colors are used to mark the perennial Kalathea Makoi. Only its leaves have a dark shade, and the veins range from white to burgundy. Its flowers can be purple or white. The maximum height of the calathea is up to 1.2 m and it easily tolerates full shade, but it is very demanding on moist and well-drained soil.
A climbing philodendron - a creeping vine - will easily fit into a free corner of a dark and gloomy room. On the windowsill, it will be prevented from developing not only by direct sunlight, but also by drafts that the plant cannot tolerate. The ideal temperature for a philodendron is from +18 to +28 degrees. Add to this the need for constant soil moisture - that's all the care requirements.
It is better to grow aspidistra in a dry room. She does not need frequent watering, and sunlight is completely destructive. The tender leaves burnt by the rays turn yellow, curl and fall off. The flowers of the aspidistra are inconspicuous, its raisins are beautiful lanceolate leaves.
The monstera, popular in recent years, is also not a fan of sunlight. It thrives in the shade and is only demanding of a constant level of temperature and moisture in the soil and air. Thanks to this sensitivity, the monstera can act as a weather predictor: before the rain, moisture appears on its leaves.
Scindapsus is also unpretentious. It is important to protect this climbing plant only from drafts, dryness and temperature changes. In summer, a pot with a scindapus can even be placed in the shade of a country house.
