The Russian sarafan is not only clothing that belongs to the field of national history. In a slightly modified form, we still wear such sundresses in summer and winter. A simple cut and the ability to use materials of different colors and textures make such sundresses universal clothes for both the office and the beach. And we will tell you how to sew their progenitor - the Russian sundress.
It is necessary
- Dense monochromatic chintz, satin - 2.5 meters with a width of 110 cm
- Colored fabric in small pattern 2 m with a width of 90 cm
- Lace or fancy braid 10 m
- A sheet of paper for patterns
- Measuring tape
Instructions
Step 1
Measure your back and chest width. On a piece of pattern paper, place your custom pattern for these dimensions. From colored fabric, cut out two parts A, B and C. This will be the yoke and the straps of your future sundress. From the remains of colored fabric, cut ribbons 7 cm wide, they will be used for finishing the sundress.
Step 2
Cut out two trapezoids from plain fabric. Determine their height taking into account the required length of the sundress. The length of the lower base is 110 cm; make the upper base of the trapezoid different. The back panel should be 5 cm wider than the back, the front panel should be 8 cm wider.
Step 3
Sew the sides of the yoke, tape the top of the yoke.
Step 4
Sew a colored fabric trim tape in the center of the front panel. Sew it along with the tape along the seam.
Step 5
Sew the sides of the front and back panels. Trim the hem with a colored fabric trimming tape with tape along the seam. Iron the hem. Sew the upper part of the panels with a large stitch and gather "in a drawstring" along the width of the lower part of the yoke.
Step 6
Sew the yoke and the lower part of the sundress. Iron and process all seams from the inside out. Fold the straps in half, sharpen them by passing the braid along the edge. Iron the straps and adjust their location and length while wearing a sundress. Attach them to the yoke.
