First, decide for what purpose you need a boat. Its size and design depend on this. You can determine the first point for yourself, but the design features need to be analyzed in more detail. But for those who like long water voyages, such a boat is not suitable. You need to purchase a boat with a sturdy transom, deck and keel. Such a boat is heavier and cumbersome, however, all non-inflatable parts can be easily removed and the boat itself can be compactly packed for storage and transportation. There is a variant of boats with a durable transom, but at the same time with an inflatable deck covered with a rigid reinforced rug. Such a boat can be rolled up with the floor. There are options with a removable flexible deck that can be rolled into a separate roll. The most reliable option: inflatable boats with non-removable rigid elements: transom, deck and keel. Such structures combine the best of ordinary boats and inflatable boats: strength and unsinkability, but they require a lot of storage space and are difficult to transport.
Step 2
The next important point is the seams on the boat. They can be glued with an overlap, end-to-end and glued with suture tape. The first option is the cheapest, but, unfortunately, the lowest quality. Air bubbles could easily get into such seams, so they may not be airtight. Making a boat with butt seams is much more difficult than overlapping. Due to this, such a boat will be more expensive, but much better quality and will last you longer, as well as save you from frequent pumping of the boat, since the seams will not let air through. A special seam tape can provide additional strength to the seam. This option is more expensive, but it is the most reliable, which is important when using the boat in extreme conditions.
Step 3
The next important point again concerns the seams. It is imperative to take into account how they are made: glued, vulcanized or welded using ultrasound. The glued seam is very strong, but still remains a junction of two different parts, and, accordingly, a weak point. The vulcanization process and ultrasonic welding make the material one whole, which certainly makes the boat more reliable.
